When Nicola ‘Hurricane’ Hopewell entered the ring on Friday night at the Doncaster Dome, she knew it was going to be the toughest challenge of her career. The 31 year old super flyweight had seen Buchra el Quaissi in a previous bout and realised what a durable opponent she would be, but the Worksop fighter came out on top with a points decision after 6 tough rounds.
Nicola, sponsored by AET, said afterwards, ‘Buchra was a great test for me she and I had to use my boxing skills to adjust to her style of fighting and my fitness through the rounds. I can’t thank my team enough. I had nearly 70 people come to Doncaster Dome to support me on Friday including family, friends and sponsors.’
AET’s Operations Director, Andy Richards says ‘We have for a long time supported the local clubs and communities in which our employees live and work. Where possible, we aim to sponsor and support local causes and individuals and we are delighted to add Nicola to that group’.
‘It’s clear that Nicola is both passionate and devoted to the sport of boxing. We believe she is a rising star, and we are delighted to provide sponsorship as she embarks on her boxing career.’
Well done Nicola! We look forward to news of her next fight later this year.
